Results of the 2nd stage of Ukrainian Student Olympiad in Computer Engineering for specialty

According to the decree of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine 1247 27.11.2015 "On a ukrainian student competition in the 2015/2016 academic year" in Kremenchuk Mykhailo Ostrohradskyi National University at the department of "Computer and Information Systems" 14-18 March 2016 passed the second stage of Ukrainian student Olympiad in Computer engineering for specialty "Computer systems and networks".

Olympiad of this direction has been held in KrNU for the second consecutive year. Representatives of 12 universities in Ukraine that train on Computer Engineering and related fields took a participation, in amount of 45 students. The event was supported by IT companies of Kremenchuk: GridinSoft LLC, Ltd. "Setilayt", Onlinico, service center "Gadgets" and Ltd. "Akson" at the Department of Computer and Information Systems of KrNU. Olympiad has took place only three days. In Olympiad competition day (16 March 2016), participants were solved tasks from a theoretical and practical stage in writing.

After writing the contest tasks, participants went to the tour of the city, where they have visited the embankment and the old Kremenchuk.

Topics of competitive tasks were chosen so as to cover the main issues addressed in the courses "Computer networks", "Computer Systems", "Computer Logic", "Database Organization", "Database Management Systems" for specialty "Computer systems and networks", in particular:
- calculation of IP-addresses of local and global computer networks;
- calculation of time and speed of data transmission in computer networks;
- calculation of micro-instructions of computer systems;
- building machines and digital PLA;
- construction of simple and complex queries of data selecting by the SQL-language.

Key factors, which have been used to estimate completeness of solving of competitive tasks:
- knowledge of theoretical material;
- justification of used methods and the rationality of the proposed method of solving the task;
- the quality of accounts;
- adequate support of calculation by visual materials and comments.

The need to take into account the originality of the method of solving tasks was deemed during assessing participants` works.

Most students who participated in the competition, have showed a high level of training in disciplines on a base of which competitive tasks were composed.

Based on analysis of papers of participants, the jury has decided to identify candidates on Olympiad winners in personal credit of competition and to award:

The first place for a team has won the team of Kharkiv National University of Radioelectronics, the second place has won the team of the National Aviation University, the third place has won the team of Cherkasy State Technological University.

Representatives of IT firms of Kremenchuk took part in the evaluation of competition works and the awarding ceremony. The organizers would like to thank Krasovsky Sergei Vladimirovich (delegate from Onlinico) for support in organization of the competition. We should note the productive work of Kudelin Vladimir Olexandrovich and Baglai Vladislav Ihorovych (delegates from GridinSoft LLC) for estimates participants works and summarizing Olympiad results.
