Academic trip of Prof., Doctor of Historical Sciences Hanna Kapustian to New York
10.06.09 On April 10th– May 11th 2009 Prof. of the Department for The Theory, History of State and Law of Kremenchuk Mykhaylo Ostrogradskyi State Polytechnic University (KSPU) Hanna Kapustian was invited to participate in the 18th International Conference “Political Influence on Health and Environment Policies” organized by the international organization World Information Transfer (WIT) that is recognized by the UNO and in the briefing “Politics of food security” organized by the international organization World Information Transfer (WIT) in the collaboration with the Mission of Ukraine to the UNO.
Prof. Hanna Kapustian made a report on “Moral and psychological, social consequences of Holodomor – Henotsyd (famine and genocide) 1932-33 in Ukraine” and took part in scientific debates of the 18th International Conference “Political Influence on Health and Environment Policies”.
On the personal initiative of Dr.Christine K.Durbak, the Chair for the WIT recognized by the UNO and Mission of Ukraine to the UN headed by the Permanent Representative of Ukraine to the UNO Yurii Serheev it was made a suggestion to hold a briefing on “Politics of food security” arranged within the frameworks of Commission on Sustainable Development to the UNO. The Commission was working through May of the current year and dealing with the discussions of the problems “Politics and Agriculture”.
Briefing took place on the 8th of May in the United Nations Headquarters. For the first time in the history of Ukraine UNO called on the historian prof.Hanna Kapustian (and not the politician) who spoke about circumstances, reasons, means, consequences of Holodomor – Henotsyd (famine and genocide) 1932-33 in Ukraine based upon the thorough scientific research by using the documents from Moscow archives containing the direct evidences on the genocide of Ukrainian people during the Holodomor 1932-33.
During the academic trip the scientific research on” The memory of 1933 calls the youth: witnesses’ confession and the historian’s word” was introduced to Columbian University, Taras Shevchenko Scientific Society, to the scientists of Ukrainian Independent Science Academy, to the Ukrainian Institute of the USA, to the meeting of World Ukrainian Women Federation – in New-York, to the Ukrainian Society in Hunter.
