Kick-off meeting on Climate Change: global challenges local actions was held on the 23rd of September 2009 in the Office of Fulbright Program in Kyiv within the framework of Information Campaign on Climate Change for youth and supported by the U.S. Department of State, FYI 2009 Climate Change Conference Alumni Competition.
Kick-off meeting on Climate Change: global challenges local actions was organized by Fulbright Program in Ukraine, Kremenchuk Mykhaylo Ostrogradskiy State University (SU), Sustainable Development and Ecological Education Center in cooperation with the Department of Nematology, University of California, Davis, USA and Department of Natural Resources, Matej Bel University, Slovak Republic.

The participants of the kick-off meeting were governmental officials, experts, U.S. Educational Programs Alumni, teachers and students from Kremenchuk Mykhaylo Ostrogradskiy State University (SU), National University of Bioresources and Nature Management, Kamianets-Podilskyi State University and guests from the University of California in Davis, USA and Matej Bel University, Slovak Republic.

The participants were welcomed by the Director of Fulbright Program in Ukraine, Mr. Myron Stachiw and Timothy Standaert, Assistant Cultural Affairs Officer, U.S. Embassy in Ukraine.
In the framework of the kick-off meeting there was arranged a panel discussion on Visualization of Climate Change: causes, impacts to ecosystems and options for universities initiatives. The reports were given by Prof. of University of California in Davis, Mr. Ed Lewis, Associate professors of Matej Bel University Eva Shtrbova and Marek Drimal, Head of the State Committee on Water Management of Ukraine, candidate of science Olena Boeva.

During discussion students took the floor as well particularly Victoriia Mazur from the National University of Bioresources and Nature Management, Sergii Soloshich and Ph.D. student Yulia Melnik from the Kremenchuk Mykhaylo Ostrogradskiy State University (SU).
The participants of the kick-off meeting discussed new trends of the scientific researches on ecosystem adaptation to the climate.
The working language of the kick-off meeting was English.
