2009 Sydney World Masters Games.

October 10-18, 2009 Sydney, Australia hosted VII World Masters Games which had become a national event for all Australians coming with their families to Sydney to support athletes competing there. World Masters Games are considered to be Masters Olympics for all sportsmen taking part in these competitions.
In general World Masters Games registered more than 25000 people representing 100 countries around the globe. Masters were competing in 28 sports in 72 venues including well-known Olympic venues namely Bankstown, Blacktown, Liverpool and Penrith. The motto of the 2009 Sydney World Masters Games is Fit, fun and forever young..

The National Weightlifting Masters Team of Ukraine was led by the associate professor of the Physical Training Department of the Kremenchuk Mykhaylo Ostrogradskiy State University, Vladyslav Lysenko assigned as Chief Coach for the National Team. Under the direction of Vladyslav Lysenko our lifters won 1 gold, 2 silver and 1 bronze medals. Six Games records were broken. Overall 450 athletes from 54 countries went on the platform.

At the Congress of Nations held annually during the week of the Championships Ukraine (Lviv) won the bid to host 2012 World Masters Weightlifting Championships.
