Project "Legal clinic"

Project "Legal clinic"

From October 2009 till now in our university operates Legal clinic of Kremenchuk Mykhailo Ostrohradskiy National University - "Legal protection". It is a popular source of free legal assistance for vulnerable populations. It effectively assists law students in getting the necessary practical skills. An important component of the clinic is to involve students in volunteer work. It helps students to recognize importance and significance of such activity for society and for their own future careers.

At the initiative of the social organization "Youth vanguard of Kremenchuk", Kremenchuk Mykhailo Ostrohradskiy National University, the social organization "The United Association of Transcarpathia law students" and with the support of the Public Affairs Section of the U.S. Embassy in Ukraine, there was developed and implemented a project on support and development of legal clinics. The project provides a series of seminars, training sessions involving practicing lawyer, officials, and interested social organizations. Thus, in September 2010 on the basis of our university there was held a seminar “The role of the Legal clinic in the formation of specialist lawyers". There were invited partners from such Legal clinics of Uzhgorod, Sumy and Kyiv.

T.M. Slobodyanyk, head of Legal Department of the University and the social organization "Youth vanguard of Kremenchuk", with students, representatives of the Legal clinic "Legal protection".

In the framework of the project, supported by the Public Affairs Section of the U.S. Embassy in Ukraine, for more effective activity of Legal clinic, there were purchased the necessary specialized literature and mobile phone with the purpose to create a hot line (now already installed and working).

From February 2011 at the Criminal and civil law and process department of our university there has been installed and operates informational and legal system "The League: the Law". This program will allow students and teachers, involved in the activity of Legal clinic, to get quick access to the full range of legal information (regulations, litigation, analyst, periodicals, commented codes, guides, etc.).

There will be created a site of our Legal clinic, as soon as possible. It will allow active Internet users and law students to use its services more effectively.

That`s why we hope that the project "Legal clinic" will promote the development of Legal clinic "Legal protection" and professional development of our law students.
