November 4, 2011 at the Kremenchuk Mykhailo Ostrohradskyi National University (KrNU) there was opening ceremony of the Delcam Training Center (UK). Foreign delegation, led by Hugh Humphries, the Director of UK Delcam plc. and his wife Ivy Humphries, has visited our university. The delegation also comprises: rector of Zaporizhzhia National Technical University (ZNTU), prof. S.B. Belikov, Director of subsidiary Delcam Company in Ukraine, O.I. Borysenko, representatives of the Main Training Delcam Center in Zaporizhzhia, I. M. Pavliuchenko and V.Y. Klimenko (Zaporizhzhia).
During the solemn meeting there was signed the Agreement as to the opening of the Training center at our university. Then Director of Delcam Company, Hugh Humphries gave the certificate, licensed software, developed by this company, and key with access codes to rector, prof. Mykhaylo Zagirnyak.
Delcam’s range of design, manufacturing and inspection software provides complete, automated solutions, to take complex-shaped products from concept to reality. The total cost of the programs, referred to the training center, in case of their commercial usage, comprises 2.5 million$.
It should be noted that the Delcam Company was founded on the basis of Cambridge University in 1973. Today this company is the largest developer of product design and manufacturing software in the UK and in the world, with subsidiaries in North America, Europe and Asia. Delcam`s software is used by more than 35,000 organizations in over 80 countries.
The founder of Training Delcam centers network in Ukraine, within the framework of the project "Advanced computer technology for Ukrainian universities", became Zaporizhzhia National Technical University. Now this network includes 20 leading universities of our country. KrNU became the 21st university, where British company has opened its training center.
Especially for the installation of this software there was selected one of the computer classrooms on the Department of processes and equipment for mechanical and physical-technical processing, headed by prof. O.F. Salenko. Very soon all our students, PhD students and young teachers of technical specialties will start to study these programs.
During the visit our guests from the UK visited the electronic library and laboratories of the university. It should be noted that Hugh Humphries was satisfied with technical base of our university and expressed hope for the fruitful further collaboration.
At the end of the visit Hugh and Ivey Humphries became acquainted with our city. They visited the picturesque parks of Kremenchuk: Jubilee Park and the Park of Peace.
Opening of the Training Delcam Center is a significant step forward in the development of our university. Our students got a great opportunity to learn the latest leading design technology and to become more competitive in the labor market. We hope that this opportunity will be fully used by the students and Training center will prosper and work productively.
