20-25 February, 2012 The XVIII International scientific conference źDevelopment, usage, and environmental safety of up-to-date granulated and emulsion explosives╗ was held at Kremenchuk Mykhailo Ostrohradskyi National University in cooperation with Interagency association źUkrvzryvprom╗ and źInteragency committee in mining explosions╗, CJSC, in Svalyava (Zakarpattya Region).

This year thematic scope was wide, as well as geography. There were participants of national and foreign HEIs at the conference: Silesian Technical University (Poland), University of Petrosani (Romania), Kazakh National Technical University (Kazakhstan), National Mining Research Center Skochinsky Institute of Mining (Russia), Research Institute of Labour and Environmental Safety in Mining and Metallurgy Industries (Kryvyi Rig, Ukraine), Donetsk National University (Donetsk, Ukraine), Saint-Petersburg State Mining University (Russia), Interagency association źUkrvzryvprom╗, źInteragency committee on mining explosions╗, CJSC (Russia), Scientific production association źPavlograd Chemical Factory╗ (Russia), źVzryvoispytaniya╗, CJSC (Russia), źAkva-Gran╗, LLC (Russia), Erdenet Mining Corporation (Mongolia), źINMEX╗, State Ent. (Moldova), źGaspromregiongas╗, OJSC (Russia), and others.

The conference general subject relates to the development and applying of emulsion explosives in mining industry, usage of advanced technologies in blasting and rock failure, innovations, sharing techniques and commercialization of scientific elaborations in this area. During the conference special attention was paid to the problems of explosives safe use in opencast and underground mining, explosive environmental issue with granulated and emulsion explosives involved, labour protection and industrial safety at mining enterprises. The fruitful work of the conference was further inspired by Ukrainian hospitality and picturesque nature of Zakarpattya.
