KrNU delegation participates to annual international scientific forum-contest “Problems of using entrails of the earth” at National Mineral and Raw Material University
30.04.13 The delegation of our university comprising Serhii Serhienko, Vice-rector on Scientific and Pedagogic Work and Modern Technologies in Education, Andrii Markevych, Head of International Relations Department, Serhii Scherbak, Associate Professor, Serhhi Soloshych and Ilona Halushka, PhD students (Department of Infrormation and Control System) April 24 – 26, 2013 took part in the 8th annual international scientific forum-contest “Problems of using entrails of the earth” which was conducted at National Mineral and Raw Material University “Mining”. This year more than 70 universities from 21 countries participated to the forum. Freiber Mining Academy, Vienna Technological University, University of West Ontario and many others were among them. The total number of reports and presentations was 280.
On behalf of Governor of Saint-Petersburg Heorhii Poltavchenko all guests and participants were welcomed by Andrii Makymov, Head of Committee on Science and Higher School of Saint-Petersburg government.
Nataliia Pashkevych, the First Vice-Rector of National Mineral and Raw Material University “Mining”, poibted the fact that the forum-contest was conducted in the jubilee year. In November 1 the university would be 240.
During the opening ceremony there were speeches of the heads of foreign diplomatic mission comprising Nataliia Prokopovych, a Consul General of General Consulate of Ukraine in Saint-Petersburg, who marked an active participation of Ukrainian students and PhD students. For example, there were 100 participants from our country out of the total number of 400.
After the official ceremony Nataliia Prokopovych had a time for receiving KrNU delegation and told about the issues within the activities of Consulate of Ukraine in Saint-Petersburg, pointed out current achievements and difficulties in the work. AT the end of the meeting the Consul assured the representatives of our delegation in her readiness to contribute to developing connections with higher educational establishments of Saint-Petersburg and the region.
The work in sections began after the plenary meeting and laster three days.
The conference had nine sections: geology, issues of developing oil and gas fields; issues of ore and nonmetallic minerals extraction; geodesy; geomechanics and underground building; mining electromechanics and equipment; metallurgy; physical and chemical peculiarities of technological processes; economy and management; engineering protection of the environment; nanotechnologies and information technologies. Two nominations for winners were given in each section: “The best student” and “The best PhD student and young scientist”.
It was the 4th time our colleagues took part in that forum. This year Serhii Soloshych, PhD student at Department of Information and Control Systems, delivered a report (supervisor Serhii Scherbak) “Pecularities of developing framework for semantic add-ups Linked Data” in the section “Nanotechnologies and Information Technologies”.
There was conducted a range of meetings and negotiations concerning possible directions of cooperation and mechanisms of its realization. The delegation had a meeting with Volodymyr Borzenko, Head of Department of International Programs, Svitlana Fedorova, Head of Department of International Academic Programs and Grants, and Olena Zemliana, Head of Department of International Scientific programs.
Andrii Markevych discussed the existing possibilities, programs and grants for conducting students, PhD stusents and teachers’ exchange for study, internships and teaching.
During the meeting with Volodymyr Trushko, Vice-Rector on Scientific Work, Serhii Serhienko presented our university, main branches of its activity and scientific trends. There were discussed the issues of developing cooperation in the whole and particularly in the field of science. Our colleagues were interested in the issue of foreign publications which is important for university rating both for Ukrainian and Russian higher educational establishment. University “Mining” is already a basis for the centre of common usage of equipment where the advanced technologies are gathered. All university workers have access to it.
The delegation negotiated with representatives of University “Mining” and came to decision of signing Agreement of cooperation with our Institute of Mechanics and transports.
It is worth pointing out that the delegation was warmly and friendly received by all the teachers and students of the university with readiness to help the guests with any problems they had.
