Cooperation with American educational establishment
07.11.13 On the eve of the visit of KrNU employees to Umpqua Community College (Roseburg, the USA) within the frameworks of the Oper World Program there was held a web-chat between Joe Olson, President of the American college, and Mykhaylo Zagirnyak, Rector of our university.
It is worth mentioning that for five years KrNU representatives have been participating in the Open World Program organized by American Councils. Two-week stay in the USA is a wonderful opportunity to undergo training on the topic “Education” and to acquaint oneself with the history and culture of the foreign country.
So during the web-chat the heads of the educational establishment discussed the prospects and opportunities of cooperation laying the stress on the following issues:
1)conducting on-line courses of English / Ukrainian languages;
2)organizing on-line lectures on the Ukrainian culture and history for the Umpqua Community College students and lectures on the American culture and history for KrNU students;
3)conducting web-chats between the students of the educational establishments on different topics;
4)inviting lecturers at the expenses of the grant programs (i.e. Fulbright Program);
5)exchanging experience in proving distant learning;
6)exchanging students and organizing summer schools.
It is the development of this suggestions that Volodymyr Bala, Ass. Prof. at the Department of Economics, and Andrii Perekrest, Deputy Direcor of the Institute of Electromechanics, Energy Saving and Control Systems, participating in the Open World Program this year, will work at I the USA.
We hope for the continuation of the fruitful cooperation between Umpqua Community College and KrNU and the organization of the joint projects in the nearest future.
